Informed Consent for Semi-Permanent Makeup (Micropigmentation)
This document explains the nature of semi-permanent makeup treatments performed at Leyla Skincare & Beauty, including their potential effects, required aftercare, and your responsibilities as a client/patient. Please read it carefully before accepting the terms on the form.
Scope of Consent
By accepting this consent, you authorize Leyla Skincare & Beauty and its team to perform semi-permanent makeup procedures (micropigmentation or microblading) as selected in your service request. This includes the application of specialized pigments into the dermal layer of the skin and the use of topical anesthetics when indicated.
Important: Aesthetic micropigmentation is a cosmetic procedure and does not substitute for medical or dermatological care.
Nature of Semi-Permanent Makeup
Semi-permanent makeup is a multi-step process designed to enhance facial features (brows, lips, or eyes) by depositing pigment into the skin. You understand that:
The Two-Step Process: A follow-up “touch-up” session is usually required 6–8 weeks after the initial procedure to achieve the final desired density and color saturation.
The Healing Cycle: Immediately after the procedure, the color will appear significantly darker and more intense. Over the next 7–14 days, the area will undergo peeling/flaking, and the color will soften significantly (often by 30-50%).
Longevity: While called “semi-permanent,” results typically last 1–3 years depending on skin type, lifestyle, and adherence to aftercare.
Results: Realistic Expectations
You understand and accept that:
Results vary based on skin regeneration, age, sun exposure, and immune system response.
Skin Type Factors: Oily skin or skin with large pores may experience softer results or faster pigment fading.
Perfection and absolute symmetry are not guaranteed, as the procedure is performed on living tissue which may heal asymmetrically.
Potential Side Effects and Risks
Although performed under strict sanitary conditions, the following temporary effects or risks may occur:
Swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness in the treated area.
Itching and flaking during the healing phase (crucial: do not pick or scratch).
Pigment Migration or Color Change: In rare cases, pigment may migrate slightly or change hue over time due to internal chemistry or sun exposure.
Infection: Rare if aftercare is followed, but possible if the area is touched with unwashed hands or exposed to bacteria.
MRI Sensitivity: In very rare cases, the iron oxides in pigments may cause a slight tingling sensation during an MRI scan.
Contraindications and Conditions You Must Disclose
For your safety, you must disclose if any of the following apply:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding (Procedure is strictly prohibited).
History of Keloids or hypertrophic scarring.
Use of blood thinners (Aspirin, Warfarin) or supplements (Fish oil, Vitamin E) in the last 7 days.
Active infections, cold sores (Herpes Simplex), or skin conditions in the area.
Recent use of Accutane (must be off for at least 6–12 months).
Diabetes, autoimmune disorders, or heart conditions (may require a doctor’s note).
Recent Botox or Filler injections in the treatment area (must wait at least 4 weeks).
Client Responsibility: Pre- and Post-Treatment Care
The success and safety of your treatment depend on your commitment to the following:
Pre-Care: Avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and ibuprofen 24 hours prior to the procedure to minimize bleeding and sensitivity.
Post-Care: Keeping the area clean and dry, applying only the recommended aftercare balm, and avoiding sun, swimming, saunas, and intense exercise for at least 10–14 days.
No Picking: You agree not to pick, peel, or scratch the scabs, as this will result in loss of pigment and potential scarring.
Photographs and Marketing
You authorize Leyla Skincare & Beauty to take high-resolution photographs/videos of the treated area for clinical monitoring, progress tracking, and professional marketing purposes (website/social media), ensuring your privacy is respected according to our policy.
Limitation of Liability
You release Leyla Skincare & Beauty from liability regarding:
Reactions arising from undisclosed medical information or allergies.
Pigment loss or poor healing due to failure to follow specific aftercare instructions.
Dissatisfaction with shape or color after the final healing period if the design was approved by you prior to starting.
